• Original Ring Rattle: The rattle is a smooth, warm ring, comfortable to hold, with a sphere on a central spindle that moves within the hoop as it is held. Kay Bojesen kept the wood bare because, in his view, a blank canvas gives the mind a place to wander.
• Ball Moves Freely: The ball sits on a dowel that runs through the ring, allowing it to slide back and forth and rotate freely as the rattle is shaken. Every piece is untreated beech, shaped and sanded to a finish that needs no additional treatment.
• Small Hand Friendly: At 3.3 in across and 1.2 in tall, the rattle is sized to suit the grip of an infant from the youngest age. Wipe clean with a damp cloth when needed and keep away from direct sunlight to preserve the surface.
• Parental Leave Classic: The rattle makes a considered choice for marking a birth or as a parental leave token, and has been given in this form for generations. It ships in a branded Kay Bojesen gift box, prepared and ready to give.
• Imagination Over Paint: Kay Bojesen designed the rattle in 1932, making it one of his earliest works for children and the foundation on which the Babies series was eventually built. He chose not to paint it on principle: what is left undecorated, he believed, is left to the child.
